Our UTI Treatment Approach
At True Compassion Urgent Care, we take urinary tract infections seriously. Our providers perform comprehensive evaluations including urinalysis with microscopy and, when needed, urine culture to identify the specific bacteria causing your infection. This allows us to prescribe the most effective antibiotic for your situation. We also evaluate for complications such as kidney infections that may require more aggressive treatment. Most patients start feeling relief within 24-48 hours of starting antibiotics.

Diagnostic Capabilities
Recovery & Prevention
Most UTIs improve significantly within 24-48 hours of starting antibiotics, with complete resolution in 3-7 days. It's crucial to complete the entire course of antibiotics even if symptoms improve quickly. We provide detailed instructions on hydration, symptom management, and prevention strategies. To reduce the risk of future UTIs, stay well-hydrated, urinate frequently (don't hold it), wipe front to back, urinate after sexual activity, and avoid irritating feminine products. If you experience recurrent UTIs (3 or more per year), we can evaluate for underlying causes and discuss prevention strategies including low-dose prophylactic antibiotics when appropriate.

Recurrent UTIs (3 or more per year) require evaluation for underlying causes. We can perform testing, review risk factors, and discuss prevention strategies including lifestyle modifications, prophylactic antibiotics, or vaginal estrogen therapy (for postmenopausal women).
Yes, although less common than in women, men can develop UTIs. In men, UTIs are more likely to involve the prostate and may require longer antibiotic courses. We evaluate and treat UTIs in patients of all genders.
Yes, if your symptoms could be related to an STI rather than a simple UTI, we can perform appropriate testing and provide treatment. Some STIs can cause urinary symptoms similar to UTIs.
Drink plenty of water, avoid caffeine and alcohol which can irritate the bladder, and over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen can help with discomfort. Avoid holding your urine. If you develop high fever, severe back pain, or vomiting, seek immediate care.
