Recovery & Follow-Up Care

Recovery time depends on the type and severity of your injury. We provide detailed instructions for wound care, activity restrictions, pain management, and when to follow up. For stitches, we can remove them in our office typically 5-14 days after placement depending on location. For sprains and strains, we recommend rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE protocol) along with appropriate pain management. Fractures may require follow-up with an orthopedic specialist, which we can arrange. Return immediately if you notice signs of infection including increased redness, swelling, warmth, pus, red streaks, or fever.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you put in stitches for cuts?

Yes, our providers are experienced in suturing lacerations. We use modern techniques including traditional stitches, skin glue (dermabond), and skin strips (steri-strips) depending on the wound location, depth, and patient preference. Most suture removal is done 5-14 days later in our office.

Can you take X-rays for potential fractures?

Yes, we have digital X-ray equipment on-site and can perform imaging during your visit with results available immediately. Our board-certified radiologists provide expert interpretation to identify fractures, dislocations, and other bone or joint injuries.

Do I need an appointment for injury care?

No appointment is necessary. Walk-ins are welcome at both our Palm Beach Gardens and Stuart locations, open daily from 8am to 8pm. For severe injuries with heavy bleeding, loss of consciousness, or suspected serious fractures, call 911 or go to the emergency room.

Do you handle Workers' Compensation injuries?

Yes, we accept Workers' Compensation cases and provide all necessary treatment and documentation for work-related injuries. Bring your claim information and employer contact details to your visit.

When should I go to the ER instead of urgent care?

Go to the emergency room for: severe bleeding that won't stop with pressure, deep wounds exposing bone or tendon, severe burns covering large areas, head injuries with loss of consciousness, chest pain, difficulty breathing, suspected spinal injury, or severe pain. For most minor injuries, urgent care is appropriate and much faster than the ER.

Do you remove stitches?

Yes, we can remove stitches whether we placed them or they were placed elsewhere. Typical timing for removal is 5-7 days for face, 7-10 days for scalp and trunk, and 10-14 days for extremities. Bring any paperwork from the original visit if stitches were placed elsewhere.

Can you treat burns?

Yes, we treat first and second-degree burns including thermal burns, scalds, and minor chemical burns. We provide specialized burn care including cleaning, debridement, topical medications, and appropriate dressings. Severe burns or those covering large body areas require emergency room care.
