Fast Sports Injury Evaluation & Treatment

Sports injury treatment requires prompt evaluation to determine the extent of damage and prevent complications from sprains, strains, fractures, or soft tissue injuries. We provide comprehensive assessment with on-site X-ray imaging, allowing our medical providers to diagnose and treat your injury during a single visit. Walk-ins welcome at both Palm Beach Gardens and Stuart locations, open daily 8am-8pm.

When to Seek Sports Injury Care

  • Immediate pain, swelling, or bruising after injury
  • Inability to bear weight or use the injured area
  • Joint instability or feeling that a joint is 'giving out'
  • Visible deformity or abnormal positioning of limb or joint
  • Severe pain that doesn't improve with rest and ice
  • Limited range of motion in affected joint or muscle
  • Popping or snapping sound at time of injury
  • Numbness, tingling, or weakness in the injured area
  • Swelling that increases significantly over 24-48 hours
  • Pain that persists beyond 3-5 days despite home care
  • Previous injury to same area that feels worse
  • Concern about possible fracture or serious ligament damage

Recovery Timeline & Rehabilitation

Recovery varies by injury type and severity. Minor sprains typically improve within 1-2 weeks, while moderate injuries may require 4-6 weeks. Fractures generally need 6-8 weeks for initial healing. Follow RICE protocol (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) during initial recovery. Gradual return to activity prevents re-injury. Physical therapy may be recommended for optimal recovery. Frequently Asked Questions

Should I go to urgent care or the emergency room for a sports injury?

Visit urgent care for most sports injuries including sprains, strains, suspected minor fractures, and soft tissue injuries. Go to the emergency room if you experience severe deformity, bone protruding through skin, loss of pulse or sensation below injury, severe bleeding that won't stop, head injury with loss of consciousness, or suspected spinal injury. According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, urgent care is appropriate for the majority of sports-related injuries that don't involve life-threatening complications.

Do you have X-ray capabilities on-site?

Yes, we have digital X-ray imaging available at both locations. Our medical providers can order and interpret X-rays during your visit to diagnose fractures, dislocations, and other bone injuries. This eliminates the need for a separate imaging appointment and allows for immediate treatment planning.

Can you provide a splint or brace during my visit?

Yes, we provide splinting and immobilization devices as part of your treatment when medically indicated. This includes splints for suspected fractures, braces for joint injuries, and compression wraps for soft tissue injuries. Our medical providers will determine the appropriate immobilization based on your specific injury.

Will I need a referral to an orthopedic specialist?

Many sports injuries can be fully managed at urgent care. However, if your injury requires surgical evaluation, advanced imaging like MRI, or specialized orthopedic care, we will provide a referral and coordinate your follow-up care. We'll ensure you have clear instructions on when and how to follow up with a specialist.

How soon can I return to sports after an injury?

Return-to-play timing depends on injury type, severity, and your sport's demands. Our medical providers follow evidence-based guidelines to provide safe return-to-activity timelines. Generally, you should be pain-free, have full range of motion, and regain normal strength before returning to full activity. Premature return increases re-injury risk significantly.

What should I do for my injury before coming in?

Apply ice (20 minutes on, 20 minutes off), elevate the injured area above heart level if possible, and avoid putting weight on the injury if it's painful. You can take over-the-counter pain medication like ibuprofen if you have no contraindications. Don't apply heat in the first 48 hours, as this can increase swelling. Come in as soon as possible for proper evaluation.

Do I need an appointment for sports injury evaluation?

No appointment is necessary. We welcome walk-ins daily from 8am to 8pm at both our Palm Beach Gardens and Stuart locations. Prompt evaluation of sports injuries is important for optimal outcomes, so don't delay seeking care while waiting for an appointment elsewhere.

What should I bring to my sports injury visit?

Bring your photo ID, insurance card if applicable, and a list of current medications. If you've had previous injuries to the same area or relevant medical imaging, bring those records if available. This information helps our medical providers make the most informed treatment decisions for your care.
