After Your IV Treatment

Most patients feel significant improvement immediately after IV therapy or within a few hours. The effects of hydration and vitamin infusions can last several days to a week depending on the formulation and your individual needs. Continue drinking plenty of fluids after treatment to maintain hydration. You can resume normal activities immediately—many patients return to work or daily activities right after treatment. For chronic conditions requiring regular IV therapy, we can develop an ongoing treatment plan. Contact us if symptoms return or worsen after IV treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does IV therapy take?

Most IV treatments are completed in 30-45 minutes, including assessment and line placement. The exact time depends on the type and volume of IV fluids being administered. Total visit time is typically under one hour.

Will IV therapy help my hangover?

Yes, IV hydration therapy is highly effective for hangover recovery. We combine fluids, electrolytes, anti-nausea medication, and pain relief to provide rapid symptom improvement. Most patients feel significantly better within 30-60 minutes of starting treatment.

Do I need an appointment for IV therapy?

No appointment is necessary. Walk-ins are welcome at both our Palm Beach Gardens and Stuart locations, open daily from 8am to 8pm. However, calling ahead can sometimes reduce your wait time.

Does IV therapy hurt?

IV line placement feels similar to a blood draw—a brief pinch or sting that subsides quickly. Once the IV is in place, most patients experience no discomfort during the infusion. Our experienced staff makes the process as comfortable as possible.

What's in the IV therapy?

IV formulations are customized based on your needs but typically include: sterile saline or lactated Ringer's solution for hydration, electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium), vitamins (B-complex, vitamin C), and medications as needed (anti-nausea, pain relief, anti-inflammatories). Your provider will explain what's in your specific IV.

Can IV therapy help with migraines?

Yes, IV therapy is very effective for migraine relief. We combine hydration with migraine-specific medications (anti-inflammatories, anti-nausea drugs, sometimes magnesium) that work quickly when delivered intravenously. Many migraine patients experience significant relief within 30 minutes.

Does insurance cover IV therapy?

Insurance coverage for IV therapy depends on the medical necessity and your specific plan. Medically necessary IV hydration for conditions like severe dehydration, vomiting, or illness is often covered. Wellness or elective IV therapy may not be covered. We accept most major insurance plans and also offer self-pay rates.

Is IV therapy safe?

Yes, when administered by trained medical professionals, IV therapy is very safe. All IV treatments at True Compassion are performed by experienced staff under physician oversight. We use sterile equipment and carefully monitor patients throughout the infusion. Complications are rare but can include mild bruising, temporary discomfort at the IV site, or very rarely infection.
